So it's been another birthday I wish I could call it a happy one but given the current circumstances I just have to tell everyone thankyou for the wishes. 3 days ago one of my best friends lost his son when he was hit on his bicycle by a truck. I would never know how to handle that. Today is their wedding anniversary... I watched Travis grow up from the wild smartellic child he was to the bright intelligent fun to be around young man that he had become We all take everyday for granted... I still can't figure out how to put the words together to express how sorry I am for the family loss... so I say thank you everyone for the happy birthdays but my wish and what would honestly make me happy today is everyone take a second out of their busy day for the Aubrey Family and then thank the lord and pray that you never have to endure what they have going right now..... Larry and krissy I'm sorry all of this is going on right now and if there is anything at all I can do for you just let me know

Parents should never have to bury their child and a young boy his mother. I am so deeply saddened by the news of Krissy's passing. Please keep the Mills family in your thoughts and prayers during this horrible time. Sending many, many hugs and much love across the miles to my dear friends and family that are affected by the loss. Heaven has a new angel today. RIP Kristina.

Saddened to hear the news of the young man (Travis Aubrey) who passed away Tuesday night in the bicycle accident, his mother was a classmate of mine (Krissy Clark Aubrey). He deserves a proper burial, but the family is unable to pay for the funeral expenses. There is a donation jar at Moonite BBQ for anyone wanting to help the family out.

While I sat in the reception area of my doctor's office, a woman rolled an elderly man in a wheelchair into the room. As she went to the receptionist's desk, the man sat there, alone and silent. Just as I was thinking I should make small talk with him, a little boy slipped off his mother's lap and walked over to the wheelchair. Placing his hand on the man's, he said, I know how you feel. As I was nursing my baby, my cousin's six-year-old daughter, Krissy, came into the room. Never having seen anyone breast feed before, she was intrigued and full of all kinds of questions about what I was doing. After mulling over my answers, she remarked, 'My mom has some of those, but I don't think she knows how to use them..'

Out bicycling one day with my eight-year-old Granddaughter, Carolyn, I got a little wistful. 'In ten years,' I said, 'you'll want to be with your friends and you won't go walking, biking, and swimming with me like you do now. Carolyn shrugged. 'In ten years you'll be too old to do all those things anyway.'

Working as a pediatric nurse, I had the difficult assignment of giving immunization shots to children.. One day, I entered the examining room to give four-year-old Lizzie her needle. 'No, no, no!' she screamed. 'Lizzie,' scolded her mother, 'that's

On the way back from a Cub Scout meeting, my grandson innocently said to my son, 'Dad, I know babies come from mommies' tummies, but how do they get there in the first place?' After my son hemmed and hawed awhile, my grandson
finally spoke up in disgust, 'You don't have to make up something, Dad. It's okay if you don't know the answer.'

Just sitting here thinking about how blessed I am to be the mother of two such successful, loving women. I watch in awe at how my Krissy has evolved into such a fantastic mother. How she juggles a full time job with being a full time mommy is nothing short of amazing. And her job is full of responsibility. I am so proud of her! And Steph, the promotion she has just received leaves me speechless. She has become such an accomplished young woman with so much responsibility on her shoulders! I am humbled to have given birth to both of them. God has blessed me indeed! Love both of them to the moon and back!!!

Day 6
Without the foresight that we may want to rest a couple of days between traveling, I only booked our hotel room in Nice for two nights (whoops!). Now that we had decided to stay another day, the weekend was upon us, and the hotel was all booked up.
No problem though, nearby Hi Hotel had a vacancy, and we weren't really feeling the Hotel Mercure vibe anyway.. For a four-star hotel you'd expect a bit more accommodating staff.. At one point I remember mentioning to Krissy that someway, somehow, I'd get someone to do something (anything?) for us.. We checked out, the front desk woman tapping her watch, clucking her tongue (exaggeration a little) at our departure time of 11:05 am. You can say it was a mutually agreeable dissolution of our business partnership...
Hi Hotel, on the other hand, was a real treat. Immediately greeted with a smile, and offered a glass of fresh-made apple juice. Very cool modern design, minimal and ambient techno from Kompakt Recordings was the soundtrack, a glass-wrapped tropical oasis of a courtyard, interesting details everywhere. 9 different room concepts for 38 rooms. You really have to check out the website: http://www.hi-hotel.net/en.
Our room wasn't quite ready, so we changed and went down to the private beach club (Hi Beach, of course). Same type of vibe here.. Cool music, crazy looking mod cabanas... Krissy picked a spot right between a super-hot French girl with mother (both topless) and two nice-looking Russian blondes.. This is it, officially living the good life!! A couple of tasty Mojitos, and a salad not worth mentioning (note: disposable wooden forks and knives make food taste bad and give splinters) and Krissy was ready to make the big swim.
For the past two days she had been sizing up the no-wake buoys, and with a little liquid courage (and a handsome young French lifeguard nearby) she was ready for the challenge. She swam and swam until I started to lose sight of her between the waves.. She was about two thirds to her destination when she hesitated, then turned around and headed back (thankfully, I was getting a little worried.) We asked the lifeguard an approximate distance, and her crazy ass swam about 400 meters in the Mediterranean with a slight buzz.. Put that into the record books folks, because she'll meet a little more resistance next time she tries to pull a stunt like that!
A few hours of fun and sun and it was time to head back and check out our room. We were escorted to our "Monospace (Urban OU Active)". From the website: "The room is an open space, with three sections, each one associated with a colour or a function: comfort, relaxation and breathing." The three sections, were actually: bed, toilet, shower, with the toilet and shower enclosed in separate colored glass closets. It was really something out of a sci-fi movie, with a control panel for the tv, lights, and power window shade built into the bed's headboard. One thing we never really figured out was the contraption enclosed with the toilet. It hung on the wall above the the toilet paper, with a hose and tip reminiscent of a vacuum cleaner, only it blew air instead of sucked.. I made a couple of lewd guesses, but Krissy thought it worked just fine as a hair dryer...
We spent the rest of the day by the rooftop pool, complete with great views of Nice and cans of Heineken from the hallway vending machine (ok, we cleared it out)... What a great way to spend our last moments in France..
Earlier, on our way back to our hotel, we had passed a restaurant called Meat Bar. I couldn't shake the idea of a menu loaded with luxurious meats all afternoon, and it was definitely time for some meat in my mouth. We got ready, headed over with a hop in my step, and was met with darkened windows, and locked front door. Damn. Closed. Not the best luck with restaurants in Nice...
Instead, we headed to a busy corner place on the Promenade, Le Cocodile for our last meal. Service was a bit slow, but I finally got my meat: Foie Gras to start (good), then Beef Tartare shaped into a Valentines Day heart (weird). When Krissy asked for another drink, the waiter replied, "No, I tink two is enough." I nearly sprayed my drink laughing. Now there's that French service we had come to know and love...

Wow ~ what an outstanding day we had Saturday at the fairgrounds! Finally conscious, still alive, and just posted results, click on link below and scroll down.
Lots of folks to thank, too! Sharra & Jack Deniz for not only their continuing support of SW, but for the fantastic ground everyone had the pleasure to run on. Was so proud of our Jr. Wranglers, Ashley Steele, Peyton Larsen, Katarina Samii & Cheyanne Pacheco, with their Grand Entry during the National Anthem, gave me goose bumps & why is there never a hankie when you need one!?
Ya'll need to give a big Kudos to Wrangler Rider & Event Chair, Susan Franks along with her Keller Williams in the Wine Country's "Pink Crew" for all the goings on in the Jamison Ring during the day; Auction, Raffle, Food, Beer & Wine, etc. ~ simply fab!
Wrangler Riders young & old were out in force helping with a variety of things; Annette, Kim L. Val, Lindsey, Caitlyn, Lauren & others, too. Particularly want to thank those who stayed to clean up manure after everyone left, including our barrel racing friends from Middletown Central Park Association.
What a great turn out for our Mobile Market place! An assortment of Bling and other Cowgirl essentials, things for your horse, home decor, info booths, and more! These folks also contributed to the event, so thank you for supporting them as they support us!
The "Pretty in Pink" Contest sponsored by Frizelle Enos Feeds, Seeds 'N Country Needs in Sebastopol inspired a plethora of shades of PINK on horse & riders alike. Our Youth Winner was Kassidy Sani, and Adult Winner was Krissy Grahm ~ each took home a bag of Purina Strategy. They say the early bird gets the worm, Well the 1st 80 riders to check/sign in received an "Early Bird Mystery Bag" of goodies provided by; Frizelle Enos, Rivertown, EquiSoft, Mrs. Pastures, TETWP & SW.
Last but not least, want to thank the office/admin crew for without them there would not have been a race; Tereasa Canada, Debbie Steele, Teri Gilardoni, Lynn Aldridge, Kim Krattiger, Michelle Palisano, Linda Hogerton & Janine Thomas La Forge. A more detailed accounting of the event will be forthcoming, just wanted to say a quick thank you for the short go. It was wonderful to see old friends and to have a first time face to face with FB friends as well. If you missed us on Saturday not to worry, there is always next year!
